BA FRESCO & MOSAIC

BA FRESCO STUDIO

Aims and outcomes
The course is aimed at training students  who will work in the fields of architecture, interior design and furniture design. Graduates are equipped to plan, design, set up, advertise and sell their creations in mosaic, fresco or other related techniques. They can work collaboratively with a project manager or assist an artist and adapt their creations to the his/her demands as well as make the necessary changes to carry out the project.

Course content
Even though they are very different, mosaic and fresco share the common feature of being aimed at surface decoration, whether this surface be architectural or part of furniture.
The basic wall work is carried out jointly to develop technological skills and the sense of craft integration in architecture, i.e. the choice of technique and material according to specific requirements.
Students practice on walls or panels ar become familiar with the preparation of the base, tools and materials. They work on their own creations as well as on replicas and also extend the different techniques to new fields of application.

Career Prospects
Graduates can choose to work in :
•Monumental art,
•Interior architecture.
The use of new lighter and more resistant base materials and of new synthetic products widen the range of possible combinations with other materials. Fresco and mosaic can free themselves from their traditional use and offer contemporary decoration original solutions.
Job opportunities should be sought abroad as well as in France whether graduates want to work independendely or collaboratively since only few people are trained in the field of wall decoration.
